Stem

Shrub to 2 m tall, forming a straggly open bush. Stems erect to decumbent; branches with faintly decurrent leaf bases, not glandular verrucose, pilose with simple and bifid hairs.

Leaves

Leaves palmately trifoliolate; petioles 2-4 mm long, with sparse simple and bifid hairs; terminal leaflets narrow-elliptic to obovate, 8-21 x 2-6 mm; pellucid gland dotted not glandular verrucose, lateral leaflets slightly smaller;with simple or bifid hairs.

Flowers

Inflorescence axillary, 1-several per axil, some longer than subtending leaf, 1-several-flowered, not glandular. Sepals deltate, 1-1.1 mm long and wide, not glandular,, sparsely pilose. Petals lanceolate-elliptic, 3 x 1.5 mm, white, not glandular, with stellate indumentum. Ovary glabrous.

Fruit

3-4 x 1.5-2 mm, not glandular verrucose, glabrous or with a few hairs, base of style sometimes persistent forming a minute apical apiculum.

Features not available.

Distribution and Ecology

Endemic to NEQ, only known from Windsor Tableland and the Daintree National Park near Black Mountain. Grows in open or rocky situations in mountain rain forest or in open forest on granite near watercourses.

Natural History & Notes

Appears to be related to Z. smithii but has weaker habit, smaller leaves and an indumentum of mainly simple and bifid hairs (versus stellate) on the abaxial surface of the leaflets.
