Albizia sp. Windsor Tableland (B.Gray 2181)

Provisional HISPID phrase name.

Heartwood brown.

Leaflet blades small, about 5-7 x 1.5-2 mm, sessile, midrib well over to one side and leaflets unequal-sided. A raised gland visible on the upper surface of the compound leaf petiole, about 5-25 mm below the first pair of secondary axes. Similar, but smaller, glands present between pairs of secondary axes towards the end of the compound leaf axis.

Flowers sessile. Peduncles about 1-2 cm long. Staminal filaments about 5 mm long.

Pods flat, about 2.5-4 cm wide. Seeds flat, +/- transversely oriented in the pods.

Cotyledons without visible veins. First pair of leaves both bipinnate. At the tenth leaf stage: more than 20 leaflets in the compound leaf; leaflet blades about 1-1.5 mm wide; stipules very small, about 0.5 mm long, hairy. Seed germination time 8 days.

Probably endemic to NEQ, known only from collections made on the Windsor Tableland and in the area between the Daintree and Bloomfield Rivers. Altitudinal range from 300-1000 m. Grows in well developed lowland and upland rain forest on a variety of sites.
