Tree to 20 m high. Bark grey, flaky. Branches and stems sparsely hairy, hairs whitish, red microhairs sometimes present, becoming hairless with age. Small spines < 1 mm long sometimes present at base of lateral branches.
Leaves alternate, bipinnately compound with 1 pair of pinnae, each pinnae with 1.5-4 pairs of leaflets, pinnae and leaflets opposite, lowest leaflets smaller and sometimes solitary; rhachis ± winged and terminating with a pair of leaflets. Stipules 2, free, triangular, 1-2 mm long. Petiole 10-15 mm long, sometimes slightly winged, raised gland present at apex of petiole, and often at apex of pinnae; petiolules absent. Leaflet blades oblong to oblanceolate, often narrowly so or rarely oblong-obovate, 1-3.8 cm long, 0.3-1.4 cm wide, base cuneate to obtuse, often asymmetrical, margin entire, apex obtuse, sometimes retuse or emarginate. Leaflets with 4-6 pairs of lateral veins. Domatia absent. Surfaces hairless or sparsely hairy on lower surface, red microhairs sometimes present.
Inflorescence axillary, flowers in globose heads c. 15 mm diam. Flowers bisexual, actinomorphic, 4 or 5-merous, flowers < 5 mm diam., cream to yellow. Peduncles 1-4 cm long. Calyx urceolate, sepals 4 or 5, fused for more than half their length, 2-2.5 mm long. Corolla tubular, petals 4 or 5, fused for more than half their length, 2.5-4.5 mm long. Stamens numerous > 25, basally united into a tube, filaments well exserted from corolla, almost twice as long as petals. Gynoecium small, ovary superior, c.1 mm long, more or less sessile, carpel solitary.
