Boronia excelsa Duretto

Usually flowers and fruits as a shrub 2-3 m tall.

Leaf blades about 35-60 x 4-6 mm, aromatic when crushed, underside densely clothed in hairs which are predominantly stellate but difficult to observe. Petioles absent or very short, about 1 mm long. Lateral veins difficult to discern. Twigs densely clothed in brown stellate hairs.

Flowers about 9-11 mm diam. Pedicel and the outer surface of the calyx clothed in stellate hairs or scales. Petals about 5 mm long, apex acute, base broad, margins and outer surface clothed in long, simple white hairs. Stamens eight, dimorphic, four long and four short, filaments of the longer stamens about 2 mm long, while the filaments of the shorter stamens are about 1 mm long. All filaments hairy. Anthers globose, about 1 mm diam. Carpels seated on a large fleshy disk.

Seeds shiny black, about 3-3.5 x 1.5 mm.

Endemic to NEQ, known only from the Windsor Tableland area. Altitudinal range not known but collected at 840-1050 m. Grows as an understory plant in close proximity to creeks in wet sclerophyll forest. Also found in gallery forest and riparian forest.
