Stem

Usually a small tree not exceeding 30 cm dbh. Blaze odour may resemble that of Alphitonia spp.

Leaves

Stipules narrowly triangular, almost filiform, about 1 mm long. Leaf blades about 15-25 x 7-11 mm. Leaves distichous, produced on branches or short shoots so that the whole structure resembles a compound leaf. Petioles transversely wrinkled.

Flowers

Flowers small, less than 3 mm diam. at anthesis.

Fruit

Fruits globular or depressed globular, about 5-10 mm diam., on very slender pedicels about 6-10 mm long. Fruits 5-lobed, wider than long. Seeds about 2-3 mm long. Testa dark brown, surface colliculate. Embryo about 2 mm long, radicle about 1 mm long, cotyledons about 1 mm long.

Seedlings

Cotyledons elliptic, about 6-8 x 3-4 mm. First pair of leaves orbicular or broadly spathulate. At the tenth leaf stage: leaf blade elliptic, about 10 x 5-6 mm, produced on short lateral shoots resembling compound leaves. Stipules linear, very small, about 1 mm long, soon turning brown. Seed germination time 18 to 38 days.

Distribution and Ecology

Endemic to Queensland, occurs in CYP and NEQ. Altitudinal range from 100-200 m. Grows in monsoon forest among granite boulders and similar habitats.
