Cissus pentaclada Jackes

Vine stem diameters to 10 cm recorded. Dead bark layered, showing growth rings in transverse section.
Leaf blades about 5-15 x 5-14.5 cm, petioles about 2-11 cm long. Stipules about 3-5 mm long, rounded at the apex, almost peltate. Hairs +/- prostrate, medifixed on both the upper and lower surfaces of the leaf blade. Leaf blade margins with 13-15 teeth on each side. Lateral veins about 4-6 on each side of the midrib. Tendrils leaf-opposed, branched with up to four or five branches. Oak grain in the twigs. Very small 'oil dots' just visible with a lens.
Inflorescence clothed in pale brown, tortuous hairs. Inflorescence leaf-opposed, with three major branches. Flower buds pink to red. Flowers about 7 mm diam. Calyx cup-shaped, lobes very shallow. Petals pink on the outer surface, green on the inner surface. Petals about 2.5-3 mm long. Stamens about 1.5-2 mm long. Ovary yellow. Ovules two per locule.
