A family of four genera and more than 500 species, pantropic with only a few species in temperate regions; one genus occurs naturally in Australia.


Diospyros - A genus of over 500 species, pantropic; 21 species occur naturally in Australia, and one species naturalised. Bakhuizen van den Brink (1933, 1936-1941); Kostermans (1977); Jessup (2014).
