Stem

Annual, up to 40 cm tall.

Leaves

Upper lamina surface hairy, margin ciliate. Leaf sheath hairy with long hairs at the mouth of the ligule.

Flowers

Inflorescence simple or compound, with few to several spikelets; spikelets pale bron and turgid. Base of involucral bracts with dense long hairs. Glumes very broadly ovate, broader than long, often minutely ciliolate at the upper edges, with a prominent keel and faint veins on either side of keel. Base of style flat and fused, with long hairs.

Fruit

Nut very glossy with rows of papillae.

Features not available.

Distribution and Ecology

Occurs in WA, NT, CYP, NEQ and CEQ. Altitudinal range from near sea level to 900 m. Grows along tracks in closed forest, Eucalypt forest and swampy places in wooded grassland. Also occurs in Malesia and New Guinea.
