Korthalsella grayi Barlow

Internodes about 5-10 x 1-2 mm, rounded, not flattened

Leaves absent or very small, about 1 mm long.

Flowers produced in a whorl at each node, usually about 8 flowers per whorl. Male flowers: Flowers about 0.5 mm diam. Anthers fused together and discharging pollen through one common apical pore. Female flowers: Flowers about 0.5 mm diam.

Fruits ellipsoidal, about 1.5-2 mm long, tepals persistent at the apex. Seeds laterally compressed, +/- cordate in outline, about 0.8-1 mm long. Seeds immersed in sticky, gelatinous, mucilage. Endosperm green. Embryo bullet-shaped, about 0.3-0.5 mm long.

Endemic to NEQ. Altitudinal range from 900-1300 m.

Parasitic on a variety of rain forest plants. Frequently found on different species of Elaeocarpus.
