Pandanaceae
Family Description

A family of four genera and about 700 species in Africa, Madagascar, Asia, Malesia, Australia and the Pacific islands; three genera occur naturally in Australia.

Genera

Benstonea - A genus of 50 species in South East Asia, New Guinea, Australia and the Pacific Islands; two species occur naturally in Australia, one is endemic. Callmander (2012).

Freycinetia - A genus of about 180-200 species in Asia, Malesia, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific islands; four species occur naturally in Australia. Stone (1982); Wilson (2011).

Pandanus - A genus of about 500 species in Africa, Madagascar, SE Asia, Malesia, Australia and the Pacific islands; about 14 species occur naturally in Australia. Callmander (2012); Hnatiuk (1990); Stone (1976); Wilson (2011).
