Psychotria sp. Pinnacle Rock (B.Gray 6555)

Flowers and fruits as a shrub about 1 m tall and sometimes when smaller.

Stipules large, triangular, about 15-17 x 5-6 mm, apex bifid. Lateral veins distinctly raised on the upper surface of the leaf blade and forming loops just inside the blade margin. A fine intramarginal vein present close to the blade margin.

Inflorescence densely clothed in erect, pale hairs. Flowers about 5 mm diam. Calyx lobes about 2-2.2 mm long, clothed in stiff upright hairs. Corolla tube about 3 mm long, lobes about 2 mm long. Throat of the corolla tube (the inner surface) clothed in white hairs around the same level as the attachment of the stamens. Ovary densely covered in pale, erect hairs. Base of the style surrounded by a white globose disk. Stigma bifid.

Fruits about 6-7 x 5-6 mm. Seeds (endocarps) about 5 mm long, longitudinally ribbed (3-4 ribs).

Endemic to NEQ. Altitudinal range from near sea level to 700 m. Grows as an understory plant in lowland and upland rain forest.
