Recurved thorns about 2 mm long present on the stem, petioles and compound leaf rhachis and often on the underside of the midrib. Leaflet blades narrowly ovate, about 4.3-8 x 1.4-2.7 cm. Terminal leaflet usually larger than the lateral leaflets and the stalk of the terminal leaflet longer than those of the lateral leaflets. Teeth on the leaflet margin end in long acuminate tips. Scattered pale yellowish glands present on the leaflets, more numerous on the underside.

Aggregate fruit about 8-13 mm diam. Styles persistent at the apex and calyx lobes persistent at the base of the fruit. Seed enclosed in a seed-like endocarp which is rugose, netted or pitted on the outer surface.

Cotyledons +/- ovate, about 2-3 x 1-2 mm, margins +/- toothed. First pair of leaves simple, margins lobed or coarsely toothed, petioles longer than the blades, glandular hairs usually visible with a lens. At the tenth leaf stage: stem, petiole and compound leaf rhachis armed with recurved spines. Stipules filiform, about 6-10 mm long, attached to the base of the petiole. Seed germination time 31 to 40 days.
