Flowers and fruits as a shrub about 2-4 m tall.

Leaves

Leaves ca.M-shaped in transverse section, about 200 x 6-7 cm. Leaves tough in texture, almost like polythene.

Nuts fluted, shaped like a faceted diamond, about 11 x 9 mm. Embryo about 1-2 mm long.

Distribution and Ecology

Occurs in NEQ. Altitudinal range quite small, from near sea level to about 50 m. Usually grows in swampy or wet situations in palm swamps, rain forest and gallery forest. Also occurs in Malesia.
