Leaf blades about 4.5-10 x 4-6.5 cm, petioles often twisted, about 0.7-1.2 cm long. Leaf blades 3-veined also five or 7-veined. Tendrils produced by the stipules which are attached to the petioles, one on each side. Twigs or stems often armed with short, stout spines.
