Shrub to 2 m tall. Plants monoecious, with separate male and female flowers on the same plant.
Inflorescences with both male and female flowers mixed, except towards apex where only female flowers occur. Male flowers 1-4 per axil; pedicel 2-10 mm, glabrous; sepals 6, fused shortly and spreading, elliptical to orbicular, 1.4-2.5 mm long, green with white margins, may be pink tinged, fleshy, glabrous; stamens 3, filaments wholly fused. Female flowers solitary; pedicel in flower 2-15 mm long, in fruit to 25 mm long; sepals 6(-8), free, orbicular or obovate, when flowering 1.2-3 mm long x 1.2-1.8 mm wide, fleshy, glabrous; styles 3(-5), free, pale green, about 0.5 mm long.

Occurs in CYP, NEQ and CEQ, and southwards as far as south-eastern Queensland. Altitudinal range in CYP andCEQfrom near sea level to 900 m. Usually grows in eucalypt open forest with in drier rainforests, often on creek banks.
