L41 absent leaves or leaflets sessile
L42 short less than 0.2 of the leaf blade
L43 long more than 0.2 of the leaf blade
The petiole is the stalk of the entire leaf, but for the operation of this key this feature is applied also to the leaflet stalk of compound leaves. In the case of a sheathing leaf base or petiole, the term petiole is used to describe the free part of the petiole.
