Click/tap on images to enlarge

The fruit pedicel is the stalk of the individual fruit.

Present

The fruit is pedicellate (i.e. has a stalk). The pedicel may be shorter or more obscure than in the bud stage.

Absent

There is no pedicel (no stalk) and the fruit sits squarely on the top of the peduncle (e.g. E. albopurpurea fruit). A very short pedicel in the bud may become obscured by the fruiting stage. The bud may be scored pedicellate and the fruit sessile.
