Dry forest, woodland, and heath. Widespread.
Shrub to 2 m tall or sprawling. Sharp-pointed 'leaves'. Bark smooth. Branchlets more or less cylindrical, hairy to hairless, often rough. 'Leaves' scattered, often crowded, sometimes almost in whorls, 0.5-2 cm long, 0.5-2 mm wide, more or less rigid, 4-angled to cylindrical or more or less flat, surfaces hairless, gradually tapering to a sharp point. Stipules at the bases of the leaves 1-2 mm long, tapering to a fine point. Flower heads yellow to nearly white, usually cream, globular, 15-45 flowered (easiest seen in late buds), 4-10 mm in diameter. Flower stalks 7-20 mm long. Flowers Autumn to Spring.
Family was Mimosaceae.

Intergrades with Acacia brownii and Acacia echinula.
