Forest, woodland, disturbed sites, and near streams. Coast, ranges, and the eastern edge of the tablelands.
Shrub to about 4 m high. Fruit fleshy. Stems hairless. Leaves alternating up the stems, in two rows on either side of the stems, appearing compound, in sets of 4-14 on short side branches, esch 1–3 cm long, 8–15 mm wide, upper surface green, lower surface paler green, tips rounded. Male and female flowers on the same plant. Flowers greenish, 1-2 mm in diameter, with 6 shortly fused 'petals', single or in few-flowered clusters. Fruit reddish or orange to pinkish, turning black with age, almost round, 4-7 mm in diameter. Fruits summer to autumn.
Family was Euphorbiaceae.
