Dry forest, woodland, and grassy areas. Between Bathurst and Oberon. ACT to Queanbeyan. May be two different species.
Shrub to 0.5 m high, or sprawling. Stems appressed hairy. Leaves alternating up the stems, evenly distributed, 0.5–1.2 cm long, to 2 mm wide, not spirally twisted, tips with a short narrow straight or curved point, surfaces hairless or sprinkled with white hairs. Flowers pea shaped, with 5 petals, 2 joined together to form the keel, yellow to orange, with red markings. Standard petal 3–7 mm long. Calyx hairy, looking grey, abruptly narrowed at the base. Individual flowers stalkless. Flowers in short or loose 1–10-flowered clusters, at the ends of the branchlets or rarely at the bases of the leaves. Never forming tight heads. Flowers not paired.
Formerly included in Dillwynia cinerascens.

In all species of Dillwynia, the standard petal is much broader than long.
