Where found

Forest, woodland, heath, along streams, and gullies. Widespread.

Notes

Shrub to 4 m tall. Branchlets angular, sometimes grooved, more or less hairy at first, later hairless. Leaves alternating up the stems, scale-like, 0.05-0.3 cm long, tips with long points, shed early. Flowers about 1 mm long, 1-2 mm in diameter, with 4-5 yellow-green 'petals', in clusters usually of 2-6 flowers. Flowers all year. fleshy stalk of the nut whitish to pinky mauve, or red to purple. Edible but not not palatable. Fruits all year.

All native plants on unleased land in the ACT are protected.
