Where found

Forest, woodland, shrubland, and rocky soils. Coast and ranges.

Notes

Shrub to 1 m high. Leaf tips sharp. Fruit fleshy. Branchlets hairy. Leaves alternating up the stems, 0.56–1.2 cm long, 1–2.5 mm wide, upper surface convex, lower surface slightly grooved with the midrib prominent near the tips, margins curved down and finely toothed, tips gradually tapering to a point, tapered to a mucro 0.5–1 mm long. Flowers white, tubular, the tube 5.4–8 mm long, with 5 hairy lobes each 1.9–2.9 mm long. Flowers erect, single, appearing clustered. Flowering: May–October. Fruit yellow at maturity, oval or oval, 3–4 mm long, smooth or slightly ridged.
