Perennial herb to 0.45 m high. Flowering stems ridged or angular, hairless. Leaves in a basal rosette, 3–15 cm long, 8–30 mm wide, hairless, margins entire, often wavy. Flowers with 5 yellow petals fused shortly at the base, longer than the calyx. Calyx white to pink, 6–8 mm long, tubular, with 5 lobes, 5-ridged. Flowers in open branched clusters. Sub-clusters 2- or 3-flowered. Flowers mainly Jan.–Apr.
