Usually flowers and fruits as a shrub about 1-4 m tall.

Venation not obvious on either the upper or lower surfaces of the leaf blade. Oil dots mainly elongate, reddish in colour. Twigs glabrous.

Pedicels about 8-10 mm long. Calyx and corolla marked by red (?) elongated oil glands. Ovules three, one per locule.

Pedicels slender, Calyx 5-lobed, persistent at the base. Fruits globular, about 6 mm diam. Seeds globose, about 6 mm diam. Embryo very small, sometimes with three cotyledons.

At the tenth leaf stage: leaf blade about 9-10 x 2 cm, petiole about 0.3-0.4 cm long. Oil dots pink to dark red. Pink oil dots +/- orbicular, dark red oil dots usually streaky. Seed germination time 71 days.

Endemic to NEQ. Altitudinal range from 850-1400 m. Grows as an understory plant in upland and mountain rain forest.
