Dietrich’s Morning Glory

Climber with twining stems; latex absent; buds and stems silky hairy; stipules absent.

Simple, alternate; lamina ovate to elliptic, 10-42mm by 17-27mm; pinnately veined with 8-12 main laterals each side of midrib, impressed and prominent above, raised and prominent below; upper surface dark-green, with sparse to moderate appressed hairs; lower surface paler with dense spreading hairs; apex acuminate; base truncate to slightly cordate; margins entire; petiole 4-8mm.

Axillary, solitary or in clusters on short lateral shoots, bisexual, actinomorphic; sepals 5, much shorter than petals, 2 long and 3 short; petals 5, fused, 30-50mm long, white, purple or blue; corolla funnel-shaped, spreading above, 20-25mm in diameter; stamens 5, scarcely exserted; ovary superior, 4-locular.

A dry globose capsule 7-10mm in diameter, 4-valved, brown, surrounded by the unequal hairy sepals; seed 4, brownish, about 5mm long, minutely winged.

Not available.

Endemic to CEQ, from around Townsville southwards to north of Rockhampton. Altitudinal range from about 30 to 400 m. Occurs in dry rainforest and vine thickets.
