Family

Reynolds, S.T. (1991) Austrobaileya 3(3): 364. Type: Northern Territory. Near Bull Breek, 13 53 S, 131 17 E, 2 July 1946, S.T.Blake 16287 (holo: BRI; iso: BRI).

Stem

Vine stem diameters to 5 cm recorded. Laterally elongated, black speckles visible in the blaze. Outer blaze and inner blaze quite discrete, orange stripes visible in the inner blaze.

Leaves

Leaf blades about 3-7.5 x 3-6 cm, petioles about 1-1.5 cm long. Small red oil dots visible with a lens, more common near the margin of the leaf blade.

Flowers

Male flowers: Inflorescences terminal on short lateral shoots. Calyx lobes about 1 mm long. Petals about 2 mm long, both the inner and outer surfaces clothed in short glandular(?) hairs. Base of each petal clasping the lower part of a staminal filament. Staminal filaments about 2.5-3 mm long.

Fruit

Fruit globose, to 4 x 4 mm, ripening red; pericarp thin, ribbed and wrinkled when dry.

Seedlings

Features not available.

Distribution and Ecology

Endemic to Australia, occurs in NT and CYP. Altitudinal range from near sea level to 50 m. Grows in gallery forest, monsoon forest and lowland rain forest.
