Vine stem diameters to 11 cm recorded. Concentric rings of included bark? visible in the wood of the stem transverse sections. Blaze darkens markedly and quickly on exposure.

Leaf blades about 6.5-12 x 2.1-7 cm, petioles about 1-3.5 cm long. Leaf blades thick and leathery. Lateral veins translucent. Juvenile leaves hastate at the base. Oak grain in the twigs.

Male flowers: Inflorescence about 2-3 cm long, six to ten-flowered. Flowers about 6-7 mm diam. Sepals six or seven, each about 3-3.5 x 2 mm. Petals five or six, each about 1-1.2 x 1 mm. Stamens nine or ten, clavate, about 1 mm long.

Fruits about 11-12 x 9 x 8 mm. Endocarp quite tough and hard to cut. Seeds horseshoe-shaped. Embryo features not available.

Endemic to NEQ. Altitudinal range from 650-1250 m. Grows in upland and mountain rain forest.
