Myrsine kimberleyensis Jackes

Can grow into a small tree but often flowers and fruits as a shrub.

Leaf blades about 4.2-11 x 2.1-4.7 cm, petioles about 2-4 cm long. Oil dots red, orbicular, variable in size and shape. Lateral veins about 12-16 on each side of the midrib.

Flowers pedicellate, pedicels about 2 mm long. Calyx gland dotted, tube about 0.2-0.5 mm long, lobes about 0.5-1.2 mm long. Corolla gland dotted, tube about 1 mm long, lobes about 1 mm long. Anthers about 1 mm long. Ovary globose. Stigma +/- sessile. Ovules 6.

Fruits globular or depressed globular, about 4 x 4-5 mm, surface gland dotted. Calyx persistent at the base. Seeds globular, about 3 mm diam. Embryo about 2.5 mm long, cotyledons about as wide as but much shorter than the radicle.

Features not available.

Possibly endemic to Australia, known only from collections made in the Kimberley Region of WA. Altitudinal range not great, from near sea level to 300 m. Grows as an understory plant in gallery forest.
