Myrsine maculata Jackes

Usually flowers and fruits as a shrub about 2-4 m tall.

Leaf blades ovate, elliptic or obovate, about 4-6.5 x 1.5-3 cm. Midrib raised on the upper surface of the leaf blade. Lateral veins about 10-16 on each side of the midrib. Oil dots numerous, quite obvious with a lens, mainly clear and orbicular, streaky clear oil dots rare. Red orbicular oil dots more numerous towards the apex or margin of the leaf blade.

Flowers pedicellate, pedicels about 2 mm long. Corolla about 1.3-1.5 mm long. Corolla lobes much longer than the corolla tube. Corolla tube about 0.5 mm long, lobes about 0.8-1.5 mm long. Anthers about 0.5 mm long, filaments very short. Ovary globose, gland dotted. Stigma sessile. Ovules 3.

Fruits globular, about 2 mm diameter, glands red and clear.

Endemic to NEQ, restricted to the Atherton Tableland area. Altitudinal range from 900-1100 m. Grows as an understory plant in wet sclerophyll forest or on rain forest margins.
