Calyx green but covered with brown hairs, sepals suborbicular or narrowly ovate to triangular, about 3.5-6 x 2-4 mm, sericeous on the outer surface. Corolla about 5-11 mm long, the lobes about 2 mm long. Stamens inserted in the upper half to one third of the corolla tube, filaments about 0.5-3 mm long, anthers about 1-2 mm long. Staminodes lanceolate to linear, about 1-2.5 mm long. Ovary 0.5-2 mm long, densely tomentose. Style about 4-8 mm long.

Occurs in NEQ, CEQ and southwards as far as coastal central New South Wales. Altitudinal range in NEQ from 450-900 m. Grows in drier, more seasonal rain forest often associated with Kauri Pine (Agathis robusta). Also occurs on Lord Howe Island.
A common species that is cultivated as a wind break or as a screen.
