Young shoots densely clothed in reddish or ginger hairs. Leaf blades about 5-13 x 2.5-6 cm, margins frequently recurved. Petioles and twigs produce a milky exudate.
Sepals ovate, about 3-3.5 x 2.5-3 mm, ferruginously tomentose outside, ferruginously sericeous on the inner surface. Corolla about 4-5 mm long, stamens inserted in the basal quarter of the corolla, filaments about 2-2.5 mm long, anthers about 1-1.5 mm long. Staminodes about 1.5-2 mm long. Ovary globose, about 1-2 mm long, ferruginously hispidulous, disk ferruginously hispidulous. Style about 2.5-3.5 mm long.
Cotyledons +/- elliptic, about 23-28 mm long. First pair of true leaves elliptic or obovate, margins entire, underside pale. At the tenth leaf stage: leaves obovate or narrowly obovate, hairy on the upper surface, lateral veins about 9-13 on each side of the midrib, forming loops inside the blade margin; petiole, stem and terminal bud densely clothed in erect and prostrate, brown hairs. Seed germination time 17 to 32 days.
