Stem

A small tree not exceeding 30 cm dbh.

Leaves

Terminal buds clothed in pale prostrate hairs. A few glands usually visible on the petioles sometimes also on the primary veins. Leaf blades about 9-20 x 2-6 cm, petioles about 2.5-7 cm long.

Flowers

Inflorescence approximating or exceeding the leaves, bracts narrowly elliptic to 3 mm long, caducous. Perianth tube glabrous throughout, lobes deltoid about 2 x 2 mm. Staminal filaments glabrous, about 2 mm long. Disk villous. Style glabrous.

Fruit

Mature fruits glabrous, ovoid, about 15 x 1 mm, distinctly beaked. Seed about 8 x 1.5-2 mm, cotyledons convolute.

Seedlings

Features not available.

Distribution and Ecology

Endemic to NT. Altitudinal range not known but probably extends from near sea level to 200 m. Grows as a rheophyte in the riparian vegetation on the Katherine, Daly and Victoria River systems.
