Leaves

Leaf blades about 5-13 x 3-7.5 cm. Oil dots visible with a lens. Terminal buds clothed in white silky prostrate hairs. Midrib flush with the upper surface. Two small glands normally present on the underside of the leaf blade near the junction with the petiole. Some hairs normally persisting on the upper surface of the leaf blade.

Flowers

Inflorescence equal to or exceeding the leaves, bracts usually narrowly obovate, about 1.5-2 mm long, caducous. Perianth tube pubescent outside, lobes triangular, about 2 x 2 mm, sparsely pubescent to glabrous outside, sparsely pilose inside. Staminal filaments glabrous, about 3-5 mm long. Disk villous. Style villous.

Fruit

Mature fruits glabrescent, ellipsoid or cylindrical, rarely slightly compressed, (with or without a short beak), about 10-15 x 5-9 mm. Seed about 9-10 x 2-2.5 mm, cotyledons convolute.

Seedlings

Cotyledons wider than long, about 10 x 15 mm, petioles about 2 mm long. Hypocotyl and stem clothed in short hairs. First pair of leaves hairy on both the upper and lower surfaces. At the tenth leaf stage: leaves mostly obovate or elliptic-obovate. Upper and lower surfaces of the leaf blade and the petiole clothed in short, soft white hairs. Two greenish yellow glands usually visible on the underside of the leaf blade near the midrib close to the junction with the petiole. Seed germination time 48 days.
