Cryptocarya triplinervis B.Hyland var. pubens

Tree to 15 m tall x 35 cm dbh. Butresses present on larger trees.
Twigs usually terete, occasionally fluted or angular, clothed in straight and tortuous, white or pale brown, erect hairs which persist even on old twigs. Leaf blades about 4.5-12.9 x 1.6-4.5 cm, green on the underside, clothed in straight and tortuous, white or pale brown, erect persistent. Midrib flush with the upper surface (rarely raised), pubescent on upper surface. Petioles usually flat on the upper surface. Oil dots visible with a lens.
Inflorescence paniculate, not or scarcely exceeding the leaves. Flowers faintly perfumed. Perianth tube inner surface pubescent at apex, glabrous or pubescent towards the base. Tepals about 1.4-2.2 mm long, pubescent on the outer and inner surface. Ovary mainly glabrous (occasionlly sparsely hairy towards apex or along one side), style usually partly hairy.
May be distinguished from the other varieties of the species by the hairs on the underside of the leaf which are tortuous and erect, rather than straight and appressed or glabrous.
