Stem
Tufted perennial with short rhizome. Culmns trigonous, 15-50 cm tall with fibrous remains of leaf sheaths.
Leaves
Leaves as long or shorter tan the culms, 2-3 mm wide, ligule well-developed.
Flowers
Inflorescence simple, with 3-8 branches that are up to 8 cm long; involucral bracts leaf-like with one or two longer than the inflorescence; spikelets flattened, 3-8 per cluster, 4-14 mm long, 10-40 -flowered; glume ca. 1.5 mm long, with green keel with a single nerve on either side of keel.
