Family

Stem

Tree to 8 m tall, but may flower and fruit as a shrub.

Leaves

Leaves opposite, trifoliate or occasionally palmately 4- or 5-foliolate or simple. Petiole 1.5-9 cm long. Lamina elliptic to obovate, 7.5-18 cm long x 3-7 cm wide; 9-17 secondary veins on either side of midrib.

Flowers

Inflorescences several flowers, 2.5-12 cm long; pedicels 1.5 mm long (to 2.5 mm long in fruit). Sepals 4-5.5 mm long, outer side glabrous except for apex which is puberulous. Petals distinct, 4-5.5 mm long, white, outer side with dense appressed hairs, inside glabrous. Staminal filaments ciliate at margin.

Fruit

Fruits glabrous, 7.5-8 mm long. Seed characters unknown.

Seedlings

Features not available.

Distribution and Ecology

Endemic to NEQ, only known from one location in the catchment of the East Mulgrave River, southern slopes of Mt Bellenden Ker. In rainforest, known from 700 m altitude.
