Stem

Seldom exceeding 30 cm dbh.

Leaves

Leaves trifoliolate and simple. Numerous oil dots visible with a lens. Leaf blades about 3.5-8 x 1.4-3.6 cm. Crushed leaves emit a conspicuous odour which is difficult to describe. Lateral veins forming loops inside the blade margin.

Flowers

Pedicels about 2-3 mm long. Calyx marked with yellow oil dots. Petals about 1.5-2 mm long. Stamens eight, dimorphic, four long and four short. Staminal filaments flattened, margins fimbriate. Disk yellow, margin crenate or wavy. Style hairy and divided towards the base. Stigma yellow.

Fruit

Fruits glabrous, 4-6 mm long. Seed characters unknown.

Features not available.

Distribution and Ecology

Endemic to NEQ, known along Roaring Meg Creek and the vicitiny of Karnak, Daintree River National Park. Altitudinal range from 450-1000 m. Grows as an understory tree in well developed upland and mountain rain forest.
