Clarkson, J.R. & Symon, D.E. (1991) Austrobaileya 3(3): 389. Type: Queensland, COOK DISTRICT: 3 km from the Atherton to Ravenshoe road on the road to Tumoulin, 17°30S, 145°28E, 12 September 1984, J.R.Clarkson 5549 (holo: BRI; iso: AD,CANB,DNA,K,L,MBA,MO,QRS,PERTH).

Stem

Annual aromatic herb up to 1 m tall with erect stems.

Leaves

Leaves cauline and radical but mostly radical; leaf blades 9-12 x 3.5-7 cm, petioles 1-2 cm long but difficult to distinguish as they gradually taper into the leaf blade.

Flowers

Inflorescence occupying -½ of the length of the stem. Pedicels hairy - mixture of long, short and glandular hairs; bracts 20-50 mm long; calyx 7-10 mm long, calyx tube ridged; corolla tube 16-18 x 3 mm at the top, base of corolla tube fused red, tube narrowed markedly inside calyx tube.

Fruit

Capsule ovate, 8-9 mm long and shorter than the calyx. Seed reniform, 0.8-0.9 mm long and with a wrinkled testa.

Features not available.

Distribution and Ecology

Only known from a small area between Atherton and Ravenshoe in NEQ. Altitudinal range 1050-1100 m. Grows in rainforest margins.
