Tropical rainforest, swamp.
Caput of females gently raised, higher than thoracic portion; fovea of females more or less straight or recurved.
Eyes eight eyes; subquadrate group about 0.3–0.7 of head-width; two or three rows; rows equal in width or back row wider; on tubercle.
Chelicerae fangs longitudinal; retromargin without teeth; middle row of teeth absent or distinct; intercheliceral tumescence in male absent; rastellum absent or with weak or thick spines.
Maxillae longer than wide; anterior lobe and serrula absent; cuspules in female few, clustered at anterior inner corner.
Labium wider than long; cuspules in female few, 10 or less; in a straight line.
Sternum shield-shaped; sigilla with three pairs of sigilla.
Preening combs on metatarsi absent; tarsi basally with several small clavate and many distally filiform trichobothria or with large clavate trichobothria for length.
Claws two; paired claws with one row of teeth on the inner margin or bare; with dense tufts; tufts movable and separate.
Males usually with coupling spur on tibia I.
Scopula in females, on tarsi and metatarsi I, II.
