Where found

Mallee shrubland on sandstone. North of the Kings Highway. Coast, ranges, and tablelands.

Notes

Tree or mallee to 7 m tall.  Bark smooth throughout, shedding in ribbons.  Juvenile stems rounded in cross section, densely warty on the lower stems, and may feel rough.  Leaves alternating up the stems. Juvenile leaves to 15 cm long, to 50 mm wide, glossy, green.  Adult leaves 6-17 cm long, 13-35 mm wide, glossy or dull, green or grey-green.  Flowers white, with 0 petals.  Flower clusters 7-, 9- or 11-flowered. Mature flower buds 7–11 mm long, caps shorter than the base.  Flowers Autumn to Summer.  Gumnuts 7-13 mm in diameter. Gumnuts that have dropped their seed have valves that are not very noticeable.

Intergrades with Eucalyptus dendromorpha along the coastal escarpment between Wollongong and Jervis Bay, and with Eucalyptus stricta on the coast north from Jervis Bay.

Hybridises with Eucalyptus luehmanniana, Eucalyptus sieberi, and Eucalyptus triflora on the coast and ranges north from Jervis Bay.
