Where found

Urban bushland, woodland, grassy areas, roadsides, disturbed sites, footpaths, and gardens. Mainly Sydney area. Occasionally elsewhere.

Notes

Introduced perennial herb to 0.4 m high; produced annually from an underground 'bulb'. Leaves basal, 8–30 cm long, 5–10 mm wide, erect, linear, sword-shaped. Flowering stem wiry, hairless, bent horizontally just below the flowers, the flowers themselves erect, and on one side of the stem. Flowers sweetly-scented, white to cream with yellow markings, or yellow or pinkish to red, often shaded purple on the outside of the tube. Flowers 30-55 mm long, tubular, with 6 lobes 10–20 mm long. Flower spike 3–9-flowered. Flowers Aug.-Oct.
