Stem

Vine stem diameters to 5 cm recorded. Rings of bark visible in transverse sections of the stem. Blaze odour not pleasant.

Leaves

Leaf blades about 5.5-14 x 3-7 cm, petioles about 1.5-2 cm long. Oak grain in the twigs. Broken twigs emit an unpleasant odour.

Flowers

Male flowers: Sepals six, in two whorls of three, the inner sepals larger and valvate. Outer sepals about 1 mm long, inner sepals about 2-3.5 mm long. Petals about 1.2-1.3 mm long. Stamens six to nine, anthers about 0.4-0.5 mm long, filaments about 1-2.5 mm long and much wider than the anthers.

Distribution and Ecology

Occurs in NT, CYP and NEQ. Altitudinal range from near sea level to 250 m. Grows in monsoon forest and gallery forest.
